Beginning Quilting


Not sure what level you are?

Beginner: No previous sewing or quilting experience.

Experienced Beginner: Previous experience with a sewing machine for quilting and rotary equipment. You have probably taken at least one quilt class, like our Triple Rail quilt classes. You can piece with a 1/4” seam allowance accurately.

Intermediate: Very familiar with your sewing machine and confident with your rotary cutting skills. Ready to tackle a more involved and challenging quilt design.

Learn all the basic sewing machine fundamentals for patchwork in our Alex Anderson Basic Quilt Classes! Select the class best suited for your needs—learn to use your sewing machine to piece faster and more accurately, and to use the rotary cutter to quickly cut your fabric without any templates! Fabrics will be selected at each first class.
